Position: Laboratory Technician
Employment Type: Full-time, In-person, Monday - Friday
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support our research and development efforts. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in the day-to-day operation of our laboratory by conducting experiments, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the smooth execution of our cutting-edge cell-free protein synthesis projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Research Manager in optimizing and troubleshooting experimental workflows.
- Accurately document experimental procedures, results, and observations.
- Prepare buffers, media, and other reagents required for experiments.
- Perform PCR amplification, cloning, protein expression, and purification.
- Run gels and western blots to analyze protein samples.
- Take responsibility for lab operations, including autoclaving, media preparation, plate and stock preparations.
- Maintain a safe and clean lab environment by following safety protocols and disposing of chemical and biological waste appropriately.
- Maintain detailed lab notebooks and other essential documentation.
- Collaborate with the Research Manager and team on projects and tasks as needed.
- Take on other responsibilities as assigned by the company to support team goals.
Required Skills
- Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong wet lab skills, including PCR, cloning, protein expression, and purification.
- Experience with analytical techniques, such as gel electrophoresis and western blotting.
- Proficiency with preparing buffers, media, and reagents.
- Ability to maintain accurate and thorough lab records.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and equipment maintenance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of hands-on laboratory experience (academic or industry).
- Familiarity with cell-free protein synthesis or protein engineering is a plus but not required.
