Laboratory Assistant

Intertek is searching for an Laboratory Assistant to join our Caleb Brett team in our Saskatoon, Saskatchewan office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in food analysis!

The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for effective and competent support to the laboratory.

What you'll do:

1. Prepare samples and quality control specimens; prepare and standardize reagents and solutions.
2. Calibrate equipment needed for the testing processes.
3. Perform a variety of qualitative and quantitative chemical, physical, and microbiological tests on raw materials and finished products.
4. On-time completion and systematic maintenance of analytical data and quality control records.
5. Perform routine laboratory duties including glassware cleaning and media preparation.
6. Assist in identifying and recording any issues relating to samples, processes, and systems.
7. Complete assigned duties diligently and efficiently following the company's policies and safety rules.
8. Assist in Administrative Assistant duties as required.

What it takes to be successful in this role:

1. Diploma in a physical science subject such as chemical technology, biology, or microbiology.
2. One year of working experience preferably in a laboratory environment.
3. Proficient in English with excellent communication skills.
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
5. Experience with LIMS an advantage.
