We are looking for a full-time Lab Technician to join our busy team on the evening shift (3:30 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.)!
Job Duties:
- Undertaking various types of laboratory testing methods of a technical nature, ensuring that SOP’s are being followed
- Sensitive equipment handling for analyzing samples and interpreting the results
- Record all data and results in specified formats
- Maintaining equipment record and daily logbooks
- Assist in ordering laboratory supplies and maintaining and calibrating the equipment as required
- Maintain an orderly and clean laboratory environment by following all safety regulations and company procedures
- Interpret standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
- Perform sampling, analysis and various tests following the SOPs with minimum supervision
- Other duties related to product QA testing and laboratory operations as required
Required Knowledge:
- College Diploma or University Degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry or Lab Technician Program - post graduate degree
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a laboratory and/or industrial environment
- Knowledge of laboratory QA/QC programs
- Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and principles as well as being comfortable handling potentially dangerous substances including corrosive or flammable chemicals
- Experience with laboratory instruments like Gas chromatography, Liquid chromatography, analytical balance, pH meter etc., an asset
- Must have excellent attention to detail, and an analytical mindset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; strong mathematical knowledge will be an asset
- Experience in MS office suites, especially in MS Excel, is required
- Must be able to prioritize workloads to meet the deadlines set by the clients; in addition, must be a team player, a proactive and trustworthy person and able to multitask
- Must be able to lift at least 15 lbs. at times
- Must be able to work safely and follow all the Company’s policies and procedures
- Other duties or special projects, as required
Working Conditions:
- The job duties of this position are primarily performed in both a busy plant facility as well as a laboratory setting
- May be required to work various shift times
- May be required to stand for long periods of time
