Korean Translator - Construction Office

As a translator for construction sites, you will have a vital role in enabling smooth communication between our international staff and will be responsible for ensuring that all team members comprehend safety protocols, project prerequisites, and instructions with precision.

Job Description and Key Responsibilities:

1. Translate verbal communications between English-speaking supervisors and Korean-speaking workers, and vice versa.
2. Assist in conducting safety briefings and training sessions, ensuring that all workers understand safety procedures and regulations.
3. Facilitate effective communication during meetings, discussions, and coordination efforts among team members.
4. Provide language support to subcontractors, suppliers, and other associates as needed.
5. Help with cultural and linguistic adaptation to enhance collaboration and teamwork on the construction site.
6. Act as a liaison between different language-speaking groups to promptly resolve any conflicts or misunderstandings that may arise.

Requirements:

1. Proficient in both English and Korean, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
2. Prior experience as a translator or interpreter, preferably in a construction or similar field.
3. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
4. Ensure clear understanding among all parties through accurate translation with attention to detail.
5. Flexibility and adaptability to handle changing priorities and dynamic work conditions on the construction site.
6. Must adhere to safety protocols and regulations while on-site.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Certification or formal training in translation or interpretation of English and Korean languages.
2. Bachelor’s Degree.
3. Additional education in a related field is an asset. Minimum high school diploma required (we will consider candidates with a post-secondary education first, but all applicants are welcome to apply).
4. Previous experience working on construction sites or in related industries. Familiar with construction terminology and procedures is considered an asset.
5. Microsoft Office proficiency, specifically Excel.
6. Strong communication and organization skills.
7. A basic understanding of the HVAC&R industry or battery plant operations is considered an asset.
8. Experience with multinational companies or diverse industries, showcasing your adaptability and global perspective.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 36 months

Pay: $17.20-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
