What You’ll Do:
As Kitchen Manager, you will oversee kitchen operations, manage staff, drive menu innovation, and contribute to the overall success of the food service program, which includes our restaurant, lounge, and catering events. You will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional guest experiences while meeting revenue targets and maintaining cost controls. Your leadership will ensure high-quality food production, safety standards, and team engagement.
You will report directly to the Food & Beverage Manager and will be responsible for:
- Leading and managing the kitchen team, providing training and development opportunities.
- Overseeing food preparation to ensure quality, safety, and consistency.
- Ensure active participation in the kitchen during peak service times by cooking on the line or providing hands-on support to the team, ensuring efficiency and maintaining high-quality standards.
- Designing creative menus and specials, keeping up with industry trends.
- Scheduling and managing kitchen staff to ensure efficient operations.
- Interviewing, hiring, and training new kitchen staff.
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and sanitation in the kitchen.
- Conducting monthly inventories and managing stock levels.
- Minimizing food and supply waste.
- Ensuring operational and health safety standards are met and followed.
- Supervising banquet events, including menu creation and communication with other departments.
- Assisting with the delivery and execution of off-site catering for our sister hotels located in Saskatoon.
- Maintaining strong professional relationships with other departments within the hotel, vendors and suppliers and hotel guests both internally and externally.
What You Need:
- A minimum of 3 years of kitchen management experience in a full-service restaurant or hotel environment.
- Certification in food safety (Food Safe) and alcohol awareness (ServSafe), as required.
- Flexible availability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- A valid class 5 drivers’ licence with a clean drivers abstract.
- Passion for creating exceptional culinary experiences and hospitality.
- Experience in team training, development, and performance management.
- Ability to work independently, as well as lead and inspire a team.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in inventory management and cost control.
- Strong business acumen, including budgeting and financial management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling high volumes with a calm, organized approach.
- Must be fluent in English and eligible to work in Canada.
