Position Overview

The Junior Property Accountant will assist in managing the financial aspects of our single-family property management portfolio. This role is critical in maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounting transactions, and providing support to the accounting team. The ideal candidate will have experience with Buildium or similar property management software and a strong attention to detail.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Record Keeping:
    1. Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for all single-family properties managed by the company.
    2. Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring that invoices are entered and payments are made on time.
  2. Reconciliations and Reporting:
    1. Support month-end and year-end close processes, including bank reconciliations and general ledger entries.
    2. Prepare financial reports and assist in the preparation of budgets for property owners.
  3. Software Utilization:
    1. Utilize Buildium software to manage property financials, tenant information, and operational tasks efficiently.
    2. Assist with the setup and maintenance of properties within the Buildium system.
  4. Tenant and Vendor Communication:
    1. Respond to inquiries from tenants regarding payments and accounts and assist vendors with invoicing concerns.
    2. Work collaboratively with property managers to ensure financial accuracy and timely resolution of issues.
  5. Audit and Compliance Support:
    1. Prepare documentation for internal audits and assist in ensuring compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
    2. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
  6. General Administrative Support:
    1. Assist the accounting team with various administrative tasks as needed to promote operational efficiencies.
    2. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance accounting skills and knowledge.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered.
  2. Prior experience in property accounting or a similar role preferred, with a strong understanding of accounting principles.
  3. Experience with Buildium or similar property management software is required.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  5. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  7. Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
