Calian ITCS is currently seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineering Technologist to perform the following duties:

Responsibilities

As a member of the Mechanical Engineering Team, the Mechanical Engineering Technologist will be responsible for installation designs of C4ISR systems into military land platforms. The main duties of the Junior Mechanical Engineering Technologist include:

• Create mechanical designs and drawings for mechanical systems for use in rugged environments using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
• Support the full design life cycle from requirements definition, concept through to successful production ramp-up, including support for prototype procurement, assembly, design verification and qualification testing, and ongoing manufacturing support.
• Review part and assembly drawings and parts lists in support of the release of design activities.
• Work with other mechanical designers and engineers, system engineers, and human factor engineers in the development of installation designs of military vehicles.
• Work closely with other design professionals, systems engineers, supply chain management personnel, and manufacturing engineers to ensure a smooth flow of information throughout a project.
• Perform 3D scanning and process data in support of vehicle platforms.
• Perform vehicle cable routing per Company Standards.
• Responsible for the successful completion of project goals according to General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada (GDMS-C) standard processes and procedures.
• Support program management in the creation of reports for technical reviews and task process updates.
• Travel to Department of National Defence (DND) locations in Canada to review vehicles for installation design, and to install the final design for system qualification and verification.

• Clearance: Secret (mandatory)
• Language: English
• Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma
• 2 to 3 years of related experience
• Able to apply problem-solving skills to daily activities
• Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal.
