Job description

We are seeking a Junior IT Specialist to join our dynamic team, supporting a hybrid IT environment spanning office-based, remote, and vessel-based operations. This hands-on role will suit a technically proficient and adaptable individual with strong problem-solving skills, especially in Microsoft-centric infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Microsoft infrastructure, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Azure AD, and Office 365.
  • Provide IT service desk support ranging from Level 1 to Level 3, including participation in the development and management of large-scale IT projects.
  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot TCP/IP networking, including routers, switches, firewalls, and NAS devices.
  • Build, support, and maintain a vessel test environment for training and troubleshooting systems across the fleet.
  • Offer technical support for cloud-based and hybrid environments.
  • Support and troubleshoot satellite, shipboard communications, and marine navigation systems.
  • Perform structured cabling and physical network installations (Cat5e to Cat7) according to best practices.
  • Apply a sound understanding of the OSI model and network routing concepts.
  • Ensure consistent documentation of troubleshooting processes and issue resolutions across diverse systems.
  • Administer Microsoft enterprise tools, including Exchange and IIS, within the Microsoft stack (AD, DNS, DHCP, IIS, Delivery Controller).

Work Environment & Requirements

  • Hybrid model: Remote, in-office, and onboard vessel support as required.
  • Willingness to work extended hours based on business needs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 60 lbs and access tight, awkward, or confined spaces onboard vessels.
  • Comfortable working at heights during onboard IT installations or support tasks.
  • Occasional travel to ports and shipyards (valid driver’s license required).'

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proficiency in managing Windows environments and core Microsoft infrastructure services.
  • Hands-on experience with networking hardware and configuration.
  • Exposure to or familiarity with maritime IT systems and vessel-specific infrastructure is a plus.
  • Solid troubleshooting methodology and analytical mindset.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams.
