Junior Geologist

Summary:

AGAT Laboratories is currently hiring for a geoscientist to conduct petrographic data collection and report writing. The candidate will be responsible for studying rock samples to determine their composition, structure, and other characteristics. You will play a critical role in helping our clients understand the geological properties of their reservoirs and make informed decisions about exploration and production activities. The position will also involve utilizing microscopy techniques to conduct materials testing to support various industries and scientific studies.

Duties:

1. Conduct detailed petrographic analysis of rock samples using microscopy and other analytical techniques.
2. Identify and characterize minerals, textures, and other features present in the samples.
3. Interpret petrographic data integration and modeling to understand the depositional environment, diagenetic history, and reservoir quality of the rocks.
4. Analyze scientific data, reports, and research to extract key findings and insights.
5. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate findings into larger geological models and interpretations.
6. Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing geological observations and interpretations.
7. Stay abreast of developments in geological techniques, technologies, and methodologies.
8. Operation of Scanning Electron Microscope.
9. Meet quality assurance and turnaround specifications.
10. Ensure adherence to all AGAT health and safety policies, procedures, guidelines and requirements.
11. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in analysis.
3. Strong knowledge of geological processes in sedimentary or hard rock petrography.
4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
5. Ability to write scientific documents to a broad range of audiences.
6. Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
7. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality and accuracy.
8. Ability to adhere to deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
