ChampionX has an immediate need for a Junior Data Analyst located in Calgary, Canada to work on airborne atmospheric measurements from both unmanned drone platforms and manned fixed-wing aircraft. What You Will Do

Aircraft Data Analysis:

  • Unmanned and manned aircraft data analysis within specified timelines (using Python, geospatial software and other as appropriate).
  • Develop customer reports (Microsoft Office, geospatial software and other as appropriate).
  • Identify and implement improvements in data processing efficiency.
  • Present and communicate measurement results within the scientific team.
  • Effectively communicate with data acquisition staff and scientific team.
Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Data acquisition of atmospheric measurements using a variety of sensors and chemical analyzers to meet project requirements.
  • Calibrations and maintenance of technical and scientific instrumentation.
  • Ability and willingness to learn the atmospheric measurement instrumentation, methods, and data analysis used by Scientific Aviation.
  • Perform moderate-to-advanced level programming in Python.
  • Problem-solving: solve real-time problems, both technical and mechanical, and perform limited equipment repairs in the field.
  • Represent ChampionX with professionalism and a positive attitude. Interactions with high-profile clients may be required.
  • Assisting with other duties as needed. Because we are a small company, you will be expected to wear a lot of different hats. While your title might be Scientist, we may need help with social media, organizing the storage closet, writing a proposal, shipping materials for a trade show, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, engineering, or mathematical discipline.
  • Some familiarity with (or coursework in) basic atmospheric sciences.
  • Valid Passport and Driver’s License.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, subject to random drug screen.
  • Ability to work a non-standard work schedule as data processing needs vary.
  • Ability to work in a small team environment and take on other tasking as necessary to achieve mission goals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with the airborne operations teams.
  • Must be available to travel for training in the US.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Familiarity with (or coursework in) atmospheric science.
  • Experience working with real-world data.
  • Proficiency with the Python language.
