Junior Analyst, Operations Performance Management (Part-Time/Contract Role)

Job Description

Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

This part time contract role reports to the Senior Rail Performance Advisor, Short-Term Planning and Implementation. The Junior Analyst researches and analyzes materials to develop policies and proposals related to transportation planning and corporate innovation.

What will I be doing?

1. Assist in the design and implementation of operating schedules, and data packages for GO/UP schedule changes.
2. Identify data requirements for analysis, including determining the most appropriate data sources and techniques to facilitate data gathering and analysis.
3. Help develop documents, processes, and coordinate required activities for all custom-developed apps/systems.
4. Participate in team meetings related to timetable development by providing findings and information that will be useful to senior staff in their decision-making process.
5. Follow established ITIL processes in troubleshooting, fixing, configuring, upgrading, testing, implementing, or deploying fixes/patches/upgrades to web-based enterprise applications.
6. Leverage and maintain internal and inter-departmental relationships to facilitate data gathering and sharing.
7. Prepare technical documentation and support analysis, development and testing for enterprise solutions.
8. Help develop documents, and the coordination of required activities for all custom-developed apps/systems.

Qualifications

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

1. Completion of a diploma in Planning, Logistics, or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
2. Minimum a year of related experience.
3. Experience conducting research and analysis to identify data requirements, data sources, and modeling techniques to facilitate data gathering and analysis.
4. Excellent knowledge of the principles, practices, and standards of Software Development.
5. Knowledge of PowerBI and R is considered an asset.
