Junior Accountant

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the Junior Accountant is tasked with calculating invoice amounts accurately, preparing invoices with complete backups, and collecting outstanding receivables on a timely basis. Additionally, the Junior Accountant is responsible for preparing account reconciliations and journal entries. The successful candidate will bring strong communication and technical skills to the role, serving as an effective member of the Finance team.

Responsibilities

• Calculate and prepare invoices accurately and timely
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and reports
• Follow up on outstanding receivables to ensure payments are collected in a timely manner
• Work with internal business partners to ensure proper system setup
• Proactively monitor and take appropriate steps to resolve billing issues
• Identify areas for efficiencies and automation
• Pull data related to auditors’ requests
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in business, commerce, accounting, or related discipline
• Minimum one year of relevant work experience
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including prior experience in the use of pivot tables, advanced formulas, filtering, and organizing large volumes of data
• Preferably enrolled in the CPA program
• Proven ability to work as part of a team contributing to a positive and progressive work environment
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 is an asset
