The Jr. IP R&D Lab Technologist will monitor operational processes concerning production and manage upgrades and repairs. You will also work within a variety of guidelines, standard operating procedures, and/or technical methods with a moderate degree of supervision.
Qualifications
A Bachelors or Diploma in Computer Systems Technician or Computer Networking or a related field with an accredited school in Canada.
Ability to learn quickly and to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems, installing servers, creating users, and user groups and permissions.
Experience with Windows Servers, installing DNS and Active Directory, and creating Group Policies.
Familiar with networking tools, i.e., TFTP, FTP, and Wireshark.
Basic training in cable architecture and repair.
It would be nice if you have:
Previous Nokia intern or co-op experience.
Responsibilities
Manage upgrades, perform minor repairs, and track repairs.
Maintain proper storage and ESD.
Build custom PCs, install CentOS, and create Linux servers.
Perform cabling and building of basic topologies.
Troubleshoot various issues with network and equipment.
Configuring terminal servers, APCs, and cabling topologies for testbeds/infrastructure.
Sniff the network to keep it running well. Find inefficiencies/problems and fix them.
Keep benches, cabling, etc. neat and clean.
Maintain a web page with troubleshooting tips and procedures.
Find/implement ways to improve the lab.
Monitor the performance of these nodes during long-duration tests, and report anomalies to the supervising engineers.
