We are seeking our next Junior Accountant to contribute and collaborate with our dynamic accounting team within our civil east sector supporting major infrastructure projects in eastern Canada.

What You’ll Do Here:

  1. Performs administrative duties ensuring all documentation regarding timesheets, equipment usage and all personnel related allowances are recorded daily or weekly as required.
  2. Ensure receiving is processed in accounting system in a timely manner.
  3. Create purchase requisitions ensuring correct coding and details.
  4. Processing of AP invoices including obtaining correct signatures and uploading to the system.
  5. Uploading documents into document control system.
  6. Assist with the month end close processes (preparation of journal entries, recurring entries and accruals).
  7. Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations and coordinate with necessary Aecon divisions and shared services to deal with variances.
  8. Intercompany reconciliations, confirmation of intercompany balances and coordination of transactions.
  9. Assist with internal and external audit activities as required.
  10. Assist with annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes as needed.
  11. Liaise with other Aecon departments as required.
  12. Maintain respect, effective communication and relationships with management and staff of all levels.
  13. Prepare HST, GST, PST, QST returns, filing and their reconciliation.
  14. Account analysis and preparation of working papers and schedules.
  15. Prepare invoices for reimbursement of seconded staff expenses working on Joint Venture projects.

What You Bring to the Team:

  1. Post-secondary education in Finance and/or Accounting preferred.
  2. 2+ years of office related experience with knowledge of purchasing, accounts payable and payroll preferred.
  3. Basic accounting knowledge is required.
  4. Intermediate level of computer skills in MS Word and MS Excel.
  5. Experience with SAP is an asset.
  6. Strong communication skills, ability to deal tactfully with employees, visitors and customers.
  7. Team player, able to work independently and prioritize workload.
  8. Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
  9. Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
