Black & McDonald is currently seeking a Plumber Foreperson to join our Construction Division! If you are a hands-on in trades, customer service-oriented, and technically inclined professional searching for the opportunity to build a solid foundation for your career, this position is for you. The Foreperson position is located in the Lower Mainland, BC and will report directly to the Construction Supervisor.
The Construction Plumbing Foreperson will oversee and manage plumbing operations on construction sites, ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. You will lead a team of plumbers and collaborate closely with other construction professionals to ensure that all plumbing systems are installed and maintained according to project specifications and regulatory requirements.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of workers who install, repair and maintain piping systems used for the transmission of steam, heat, water, oil and other liquids and gases in commercial, industrial and other installations.
- Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other departments.
- Requisition materials and supplies.
- Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity.
- Train or arrange for training of workers.
- Recommend personnel actions such as hirings and promotions.
- Ensure standards for safe working conditions are observed.
- Prepare schedules and other reports.
- May manage the operations of own company.
- May supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of related apprentices, helpers and labourers.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Plumber Red-seal.
- Cross Connection Control Certification is considered an asset.
- B-Gas Certification is considered an asset.
- A-Gas Certification is considered an asset.
- WHIMIS, SCOTT, R&R, Mobile Aerial Platform Training, Fall Protection Training, Confined Space Training is considered an asset.
- Experience in VDC and installations based on 3D Models is considered an asset.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience as a plumbing foreperson or in a similar supervisory role within the construction industry.
- In-depth knowledge of plumbing systems, codes, and regulations.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well with diverse teams.
- Relevant plumbing certification and licenses as required by local regulations.
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Clean Driver’s License and abstract.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Strength, stamina, and the use of proper lifting techniques required to handle heavy tools and parts weighing up to 25 kilograms.
- Ability to visualize a finished product from a document.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and do some moderately heavy lifting and carrying.
- Ability to work in high, awkward, and noisy places.
- Ability to work alone or with others.
- The ability to contribute to a highly team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication skills.
