Job description

Our client in the food production industry is seeking a skilled Journeyman Electrician to join their team. In this key role, you will be part of the supporting electrical maintenance and functionality of the machinery at the plant.
Job Title: Journeyman Electrician
Location: Abbotsford, B.C.
Pay Range: $43 per hour plus shift premium

What's the Job?

  • Performs all repairs, develops, and carries out preventative maintenance inspections, following the preventative maintenance schedule to sustain optimal performance of equipment and minimize downtime and costs in compliance with HACCP rules, JSA's, SOP's, and other requirements.
  • Production line troubleshooting, identifying spare parts required and ordering of parts.
  • Develop preventative maintenance program for all production machinery, boiler, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Organize all electrical parts and put in a part request based on consumption and critical inventory.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting of machinery to minimize downtime; acts upon an intense sense of urgency to on-floor calls and emergencies.
  • Responsible for completing a work schedule in cooperation with departments and Maintenance & Production Supervisors.
  • Acts as a liaison for contractors conducting repairs in the plant.
  • Ensures that all required documentation is completed correctly and on time, including Daily Time Sheets, pre-operational forms, preventative maintenance logs, temperature recording, equipment monitoring, work orders, etc.
  • All work performed and completed may require skills such as electrical, PLC Programming, refrigeration, hydraulics, pneumatics, vacuum, plumbing, fabricating, and other areas as needed.

Performs other duties as required.
What's Needed?

  • Valid provincial Industrial Electrician Journeyman Certificate is required.
  • Previous experience as an electrician including apprenticeship, equipment, and industrial maintenance experience is required.
  • Good knowledge of electronics and PLC technologies and troubleshooting skills.
  • Understands programmable controls and is computer literate.
  • Additional Skilled Trade Licenses (Millwright Journeyman/4th class power engineer) would be an asset.
  • Good writing and oral communications skills, as well as sound decision-making qualities and able to work effectively under pressure.
  • Be comfortable working in cooler temperatures (under 10 degrees Celsius).
  • Responsible for compliance with Health and Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Environmental Standards at all times.
  • Physically demanding environment, must be able to lift 50 lbs.
