Overview:
The Jordan's Principle Writer plays a critical role in ensuring that First Nations children in Ontario can access the products, services, and supports they need, when they need them. This position focuses on addressing a broad range of health, social, and educational needs, including the unique requirements of First Nations, Two-Spirit children and youth, and those with disabilities. By preparing and submitting funding applications under Jordan's Principle, the writer facilitates timely access to essential resources, ensuring equitable support for Indigenous children and their families.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post secondary diploma or degree in health/social sciences, business, or related experience in First Nations Health Administration.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Constance Lake First Nation community and their needs/concerns.
  • Understanding of culture and holistic health models which support children.
  • Knowledge of Jordan's Principle Program and Policies.
  • Experience in case management.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
  • A valid driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Successful completion of a drug and alcohol screening.
  • Clearance of a criminal background check.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Apply for Jordan's Principle funding on behalf of clients, responding to requests from clients, healthcare service providers, and community organizations.
  • Provide a collaborative, client-driven system to guide children and their families through a comprehensive array of services.
  • Support a child and family-centered approach to coordinating and connecting services.
  • Identify required services and supports that would benefit the child under Jordan's Principle.
  • Work towards establishing multi-disciplinary hubs for families when services involve several professionals.
  • Help families navigate health and social systems in a timely manner.
  • Assist with referrals for assessments to appropriate professionals or provide assessments within the scope of practice.
  • Uphold confidentiality and ensure the safekeeping of all documents and records.
  • Develop and maintain accurate, up-to-date, and concise work files.
  • Liaise and work effectively with service providers, collateral agencies, and organizations.
  • Develop and submit proposals as required.
  • Collect and report data to Indigenous Services Canada as required.
  • Utilize case management experience to support families effectively.
  • Other duties as required and assigned to support the organization's mission and objectives.
