Job opportunity: Grant Writer for L’Arche International

Mission as Public and Institutional grant writer

The grant writer will:

  • be based in Europe (UK, Croatia, Germany, France, Belgium) and have extensive experience in public and institutional grant processes.
  • be responsible for leading the application processes for a wide variety of public and institutional grants in Europe, and when appropriate from other sources.
  • support organizational strategic priorities by aligning these to specific grant opportunities.
  • support the team in building the capacities of the Federation, more specifically around grant writing and institutional partnerships.
  • extend the list of prospective public and institutional grants in Europe, and ideally from other regions of the world.

When necessary, the grant writer will support the L’Arche International team in gathering content and reporting needed by L’Arche fundraisers around the world.

Reporting, deliverables and activities

Overall, the recruited grant writer will be supervised by and report to the Director of the International Fundraising and Communication team.

  • Lead on the research, preparation, production and follow-up of public and institutional grant applications on a wide variety of themes and needs, aligning with the strategic priorities of L’Arche.
  • Build and expand the list of prospective public and institutional grants available in Europe, and if relevant from other regions in the world.
  • When requested, support the L’Arche International team in gathering content and report writing needed by L’Arche fundraisers around the world.
  • Provide support and training when appropriate to L’Arche fundraisers and to communities looking to build their grant writing and partnership capacities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure all aspects of the role are fulfilled in a timely and successful manner, true to the values and priorities of the organization.

Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum of two years of experience in grant writing (especially EU grants).
  • Excellent time management and discipline skills to meet all required timelines.
  • Experience with donor development and working with funders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English; French is a plus.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Proficiency in research, interpreting, and analyzing diverse data.
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail are a must.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently with purpose and accuracy.
  • Strong relational skills, active listening, and a sense of curiosity and learning with colleagues and partners.
  • Ability to work remotely and in an intercultural environment.

Working requirements and contract information

Part-time job for at least six months (March until at least August 2025) to replace an employee on parental leave.
