Java Back-end developer

Job Title: Java Back-end developer
Location: Montreal (Day 1 onboarding onsite / in office presence 3x week)

Role Description

We have an immediate need for an experienced backend developer who is strong in Java and knowledgeable in SQL and relational DBs, and familiar with frontend development. Ideal candidates will have extensive, multi-year, hands-on development experience, with an eye for quality and an emphasis on details, to help our highly skilled agile squads develop and maintain the next generation Lending platform for one of the most critical business lines of the Firm.

Role and Responsibilities

1. Design and develop a high-performance, scalable platform to support Lending business needs.
2. Understand business requirements and responsibilities.
3. Develop and maintain reusable and testable backend and frontend components.
4. Be an active contributor to agile squad ceremonies and practices.

Required Skills

1. 8 - 15 years of proven development experience in Java 11+, Spring-boot, and RESTful micro-services.
2. Strong knowledge in relational databases and SQL queries - Sybase, DB2, or SQL-Server. Knowledge in document-oriented databases and JSON objects - MongoDB or Elasticsearch.
3. Great communication skills, fluent in English, and experience with client interaction.

Optional Skills:

1. Understanding of containerized systems with Docker and Kubernetes.
2. Knowledge in front-end web applications development with Angular.
3. Development experience in financial institutions.
4. Experience in analyzing and applying modern technologies and patterns.
