Canada Journal is an Education Agent that offers international student services for Japanese students to help their educational success in Canadian private/public colleges, ESL programs, co-op programs, and secondary schools.
We have been providing detailed services and assistance for over 700+ international students from Japan per year who will be studying in Canada.
We are currently looking for a responsible and enthusiastic Japanese international student adviser/counselor/coordinator who is fluent in Japanese.
Job Type
Full-time: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday
Salary
Hourly rate: $17.40~

Responsibilities and duties:
- Handling inquiry emails, LINEs, and scheduling virtual and in-person appointments with prospective and existing Japanese international students
- Cooperating with the Canadian ESL school, private/public colleges, and team members to ensure accurate information to guiding and advising prospective Japanese international students
- Guiding and advising prospective Japanese international students on admission requirements, application processes, schools’ curriculum
- Setting admission tests and interviews if it is required, and following up with prospective students
- Utilizing and reviewing materials regularly such as program curriculum, information package and printed materials, Ministry guidelines, and admission reports to ensure that all information given is accurate
- Reviewing and analyzing transcripts as well as other official documents to determine admission status
- Plan and coordinate student pre-departure information sessions
- Cooperating with the team manager and accountant in tracking and assisting each new Japanese international students
- Collaborating with the homestay coordinator to follow up with homestay families
- Welcoming Japanese students by providing student orientation events and introducing team members
- Plan and carry out the student exclusive event
- Maintaining contact/rapport with the school and homestay families to student's progress during their program
- Informing manager and team members of concerns, and situations that may result in program failure
- Other tasks as required
Competencies
- Knowledge of MS Office (Word and Excel), Google Docs Editors (Docs and Sheets)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent Customer Service Skills
- Experience utilizing existing virtual communication methods, e.g. zoom, LINE, Email platforms
- Ability to quickly establish rapport and build relationships, both over Email, LINE, and virtual/in-person meeting
- Excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills
- Prioritizing, time management, and organizational skills
- Superior work ethic with the ability to initiate and remain on task without supervision
Qualifications and Experience
- Post-Secondary Education
- Customer service experience
- Related work experience in an administrative role
- Experience in a Japanese international student’s Education Agent adviser/counselor role is preferred
- Experience in a student services setting working with students, preference will be given to those with experience working with or understanding the international student
