Hitachi Rail is looking for an ITV Specialist (Integration, Test, and Verification) to join our team. They will participate in System Design to develop requirements that can be practically validated, and define the methods of validation. They will prepare test plans, procedures and reports to validate specified requirements; perform tests in-house and at project sites in accordance with these test plans and procedures; and plan, estimate, direct and lead Project V&V work. They will also write test automation scripts.

Key Responsibilities

1. Performs analysis of system, subsystem, and software requirements to define validation methods and test cases.
2. Plans the V&V Project work, including the preparation of V&V test plans.
3. Plans and performs integration and test activities in-house and at project sites to mitigate the key project commissioning risks.
4. Prepares Test Procedures in accordance with V&V test plans.
5. Performs commissioning tests in-house and at project sites.
6. Prepares test reports which record the pass/fail status of planned tests and identify problems detected during the tests.
7. Directs, supervises and reviews the work of more junior staff performing V&V work.
8. Supervises test staff both in-house and in the field in assignments/tasks, ensuring application of standards, practices/procedures, quality assurance, and adherence to budgets.
9. Trains and develops the skills of more junior staff.
10. Develops product knowledge through formal and informal training, OJT and self-study.
11. Investigates test anomalies through analysis of data files, design documentation and interaction with development departments.
12. Prepares problem reports in the defect tracking system describing test failures and defects.
13. Assists in the development of V&V schedules and budgets and associated progress reporting.
14. Participates in marketing activity by estimating new project work costs, drafting proposed commissioning, and cut over plans and responding to project RFQs.
15. Extended travel to field site may be required in accordance with company policy.
16. Form and lead dedicated project V&V teams.
17. Identify test objectives and test cases.
18. Keep current with company test processes and methods.
19. Perform traceability analysis.
20. Perform design reviews.
21. Assist in development of V&V processes and tools.
22. Assist in project schedule and budget activities.

Required Skills and Experience

1. 5 + years' experience in testing of embedded real-time systems or equivalent software or hardware test experience.
2. B.A.Sc. Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent.
3. Real-time embedded mission critical system test experience.
4. Knowledge of railway signaling techniques.
5. Knowledge of test methods and procedures.
6. Competence in technical writing.

Preferred Skills and Experience

1. Company product knowledge (SelTrac).
2. Competence in team leadership.
3. Knowledge of systems to be employed.
4. Understanding of the roles of other departments as relating to Verification and Validation/Test.
