Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced IT & Systems Coordinator to join our team on a contract basis until October 31, 2025. This role offers an exciting opportunity to demonstrate the value of IT system management within our attraction and potentially transition into a permanent full-time position at the end of the contract.

This contract position will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and troubleshooting our operational systems, including:

  • Galaxy POS (Point-of-Sale) software
  • Clover Food and Beverage system
  • A future retail software solution (to be implemented)

The role requires on-site presence full-time during the initial contract period to ensure seamless system management and integration. However, as operations stabilize, the potential for hybrid work may be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

System Management & Technical Support -

  • Oversee and maintain Galaxy POS, Clover, and other operational software to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting for system-related issues, including POS terminals, payment gateways, printers, and network connectivity.
  • Work closely with the Management, Guest Experience, Food & Beverage, and Retail Teams to ensure seamless system functionality.
  • Act as the primary liaison with IT vendors and service providers, coordinating system updates, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Document all hardware, IT asset ownership and maintenance plan.

Process Improvement & System Optimization -

  • Continuously evaluate operational systems and workflows, identifying areas for efficiency improvements.
  • Assist in the implementation and integration of a new retail software solution.
  • Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for optimization, automation, and cost savings.

Training & Documentation -

  • Develop and deliver training sessions for staff on POS systems and other operational software.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and user guides.
  • Ensure best practices for data security, system updates, and process automation.

Event & Promotion Support -

  • Be available on-site during promotions, peak seasons, or special events to provide IT support.
  • Assist with seasonal system setup and adjustments for special sales campaigns.

Reporting & Data Analysis -

  • Develop and maintain SQL reports to support business intelligence and operational decision-making.
  • Assist the accounting team with accurate financial reporting across all system operations.
  • Generate reports from Galaxy POS and other software to track sales performance and operational insights.
  • Support other Malahat SkyWalk departments as needed to ensure smooth operations and exceptional guest experiences.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience, Abilities and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should demonstrate:

  • Education: Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Business Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 2+ years in IT support, POS system administration, or technology management, ideally within tourism, hospitality, or retail.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical team members.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Availability: Must be willing to work full-time, on-site for the duration of the contract, with the potential for hybrid flexibility in the future.
  • Capacity to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Asset Qualifications

The following qualifications are not mandatory; however, they are preferred and will be considered assets:

  • Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with POS systems (Galaxy, Clover), SQL reporting, and software troubleshooting is a strong asset.

Work Conditions

  • Work Environment: Full-time, in-office to start; potential for hybrid work as systems stabilize.
  • This position requires flexibility to accommodate the needs of the business, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.

Compensation: $7,000 / month
