Position reports to: Senior IT Manager, Moncton
BMM Testlabs is seeking a skilled and motivated IT System Administrator to join our team. The IT System Administrator will be responsible for design, implementation, operation and maintenance of BMM’s IT infrastructure, systems, and applications. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong problem-solving abilities and a deep understanding of IT systems and networks.
Key Responsibilities:
System Maintenance and Support:
- Support in the creation and maintenance of IT infrastructure in BMM offices
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
- Ensure the highest levels of system and infrastructure availability.
- Proactively identify, analyze, and resolve system and network issues.
- Support internal and client-based applications, servers, and miscellaneous IT infrastructure
Security and Backup:
- Implement and manage security tools, policies, and procedures.
- Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
- Plan and implement system backup and recovery strategies.
- Test restoration procedures periodically
Network Management:
- Maintain network security systems such as IDS/IPS, ACLs, SIEM alerts, and email alerts
- Administer network devices, including WAPs, routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Ensure network connectivity throughout a company's LAN/WAN infrastructure.
- Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
User Support and Training:
- Responsible for providing second-level support to BMM U.S. and BMM Canada.
- Respond to and resolve help desk requests promptly.
- Educate and train users on the use of IT systems and software.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of IT systems, configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to recommend improvements.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 4+ years as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role.
- 3+ Experience with Office 365 applications
- 2+ years managing and maintaining corporate networks
- Basic understanding of cloud solutions
- Strong understanding of basic networking concepts such as subnetting, L2 and L3 networking, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN and DNS
- Professional certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+) are a plus.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols.
- Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Docker).
- Experience with Veeam, FortiGate, and Aruba desired
- Familiarity with various operating systems (Windows, Linux, Mac OS).
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) is a plus.
- Knowledge and familiarity with MS SQL is a plus
Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- This position requires the ability to seamlessly step into the role of Senior IT Manager during their absence, whether due to vacation or illness, ensuring continuity of operations and effective leadership in their absence.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
