The IT Systems Administrator is a hands-on and detail-oriented role responsible for supporting and maintaining the school's technology infrastructure, ensuring consistent, reliable performance of IT systems. Reporting to the Associate Director of Technology, this role involves critical support tasks across network management, system support, and cybersecurity. The IT Systems Administrator provides essential user support and is instrumental in the daily operations of the IT department, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating on new projects that enhance the technological framework. This position is ideal for a proactive problem solver with a strong customer service focus who is eager to contribute to a collaborative educational environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Systems Management and Support:
- Manage day-to-day monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the wired and wireless network infrastructure.
- Support network servers and related systems, ensuring high availability, and handle configuration, maintenance, and performance monitoring.
- Collaborate in implementing hardware and software upgrades, optimizing performance, and ensuring seamless system functionality.
- Maintain, update, and repair technology equipment, including printers, copiers, and computing devices.
- Assist with helpdesk operations, providing timely support and tracking issues to identify trends and recurring problems.
- Provide users with technical support and training for effective technology usage, fostering a positive and supportive IT environment.
- Provide technical support for school events by setting up, operating, and troubleshooting audio/visual (A/V) equipment as needed, including occasional evening and weekend availability to ensure smooth, professional event experiences.
Cybersecurity:
- Assist in enforcing security protocols to safeguard data assets, supporting compliance with organizational privacy policies.
- Monitor network and computer security policies, escalating issues to ensure the protection of data and electronic communications.
- Conduct regular security checks on systems and hardware, aiding in proactive risk management.
Educational Technology:
- Collaborate with educational staff to deploy and maintain instructional technology, supporting classroom and remote learning.
- Assist with the configuration and troubleshooting of educational tools and platforms, ensuring they align with user needs.
Administration and Other Duties:
- Assist in developing and delivering hands-on training sessions for users, ensuring familiarity with new systems, applications, and upgrades.
- Provide front-line support during technology rollouts, helping users understand changes, navigate new interfaces, and apply new functionalities effectively.
- Gather and report user feedback on new technology implementations to the Associate Director of Technology, highlighting areas where additional support or clarification may be needed.
- Coordinate follow-up support sessions as needed to address any lingering questions or issues, promoting user confidence and satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate inventory and manage the lifecycle of technology assets, minimizing disruptions due to aging equipment.
- Responsible for the tracking of software licenses and ensuring adherence to licensing agreements, coordinating renewals as necessary.
- Engage with vendors to address service needs and coordinate equipment repairs.
- Stay updated on industry trends and relevant developments in IT and educational technology.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Diploma or certification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Experience Required:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT support or system administration.
- Familiarity with student information systems, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and Apple device management, including experience with macOS/iOS/iPadOS environments.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, with basic administrative experience in Windows or Linux server environments.
- Experience in managing small to mid-scale network systems, including Wi-Fi and security protocols.
- Exposure to virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V is an asset.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting skills in managing IT infrastructure and networking issues.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and a commitment to maintaining data security and privacy.
- Ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical staff, delivering clear communication and excellent customer support.
- Demonstrated aptitude for staying current with technology advancements, particularly in educational technology.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize support requests effectively.

Pay range: $59,000 to $67,000 annual salary based on education and experience.
