Job description

n! biomachines, based in Burlington, is focused on the development and production of bioreactors and advanced machinery for cellular agriculture and precision fermentation. Our integrated Research and Development center within the same facility is an Ontario hub for innovation in bioprocess design and optimization, plant-based engineering, food technology and scaled alternative protein production.

As an IT System Administrator, you will be integral to maintaining and optimizing our organization's IT infrastructure. Reporting to the VP Operations, you will leverage your core skills in operating systems alongside premium skills in AWS, VMWare, and both Windows and Linux environments. Your expertise in LDAP, Active Directory, VPN, DNS, and Azure will ensure secure and efficient network operations. Additionally, your relevant knowledge in computer networking and database management will enhance system performance and reliability.   • Implement and maintain hardware (clients, server, storage, network)

  • Hyper-V virtualization, Failover Clustering

  • Firewall management (Ubiquiti Security Gateway / Sophos Intercept X XDR)

  • Maintain Ubiquiti Network Devices (Switches / Wi-Fi Devices)

  • Oversee global licensing, including assessing needs for new software, managing contracts and renewals, and monitoring IT expenses

  • Apply weekly security patches and remediate vulnerabilities per security requirements

  • Coordinate backup and recovery strategies to ensure that servers and databases can be recovered

  • Assist in developing and implementing security strategies to ensure data and services are secure

  • Maintain and create infrastructure related documentation as needed (Disaster Recovery Documentation)

  • Conduct on-site troubleshooting for office hardware, Network and Server Environment equipment

  • Support HR for new staff onboarding

  • Lead internal trainings on IT policy, cybersecurity, ISO, etc.

  • Manage ticketing system for requests

  • VLAN Configuration with Unifi Network Manager

  • VPN Configuration via Radius Server (Microsoft)

  • Amazon Webservices Management (Route53) for Website Management

  • Manage Hybrid Active Directory on Premise with Cloud Services (MS365 / Azure)

  • Expert in DNS / GPO / LDAP / Active Directory

  • Experience of Management for DNS and Service Configuration for websites

  • Software Packaging (MSI Packages) / Automatic Deployment / OS Deployment (Manage Engine)

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferred

  • Familiarity with North American and European IT environments and licensing, an asset

  • Experience with Linux preferred

  • Basic knowledge of ERP System Business Central Administration & MS Sales (CRM)

  • Experience with laboratory and life science data management software an asset

  • Advanced experience with Active Directory and MS Azure (Hybrid AD, AD group management, Group Policies)

  • Advanced experience on MS based DFS / DNS and IIS

  • Advanced experience in building software packages for automated software deployment

  • Proficient in Windows 10 & 11, Server 2019-2022

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Team player who can collaborate well with local and international colleagues
