We have an opportunity for an IT Support Specialist to join our IT Team.
In this role, you will:
- Be the first-line contact for internal support (Head office and Global employees and Digital Publishing partners in Ireland, UK, Philippines, and Australia).
- Take ownership of technical issues and educate employees on best practices for technical habits and computer use.
- Manage IT-related requests through effective ticket management, with a focus on customer service, logging, tracking, and prioritization.
- Install, configure, and repair new and existing enterprise client workstations, hardware, and corresponding software according to standard operating procedures.
- Identify opportunities for task automation with scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
- Support maintenance of the automated file retrieval system through scripting.
- Create, maintain, and edit scripts to ensure efficient operation.
- Contribute to server and network monitoring, including both hardware and software components.
- Assess, replace, and troubleshoot hardware issues at both end-user and server levels.
- Assist in developing corporate documentation, such as standard operating procedures and IT training materials.
- Collaborate closely within a supportive team of skilled specialists.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisor(s).
You are a great fit if you have:
- At least 2 years' experience in IT technical support, with a background in Computer Science or IT Systems preferred.
- Proficiency in Windows environments, Active Directory (on-prem and Azure AD), and a strong foundation in IT security, including MFA, Access Control, and the Principle of Least Privilege.
- Solid understanding of computer hardware integration, network troubleshooting, and endpoint management tools in line with industry standards.
- Experience with patch management (including testing in controlled environments), backup/restoration procedures, and IT ticketing systems (e.g., Jira).
- Skill in report creation and IT request analysis to identify improvement areas, along with experience in managing hybrid (on-prem/cloud) environments.
- Familiarity with scripting tools (e.g., PowerShell, bash, batch).
- A willingness to work outside regular business hours to address critical or time-sensitive situations on an occasional basis based on operational needs.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced setting, effectively managing multiple priorities while demonstrating excellent professional writing and interpersonal skills.
- A collaborative, customer-focused approach with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in clear, user-friendly language.
- Commitment to staying informed about new and emerging technologies that may enhance data center operations.
Bonus points if you:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Familiarity with additional operating systems such as Linux and Mac.
- Ability to lift 15-25 lbs.
- A strong interest in the technology sector and eagerness to grow within the role and department.
- A creative, positive attitude with an entrepreneurial spirit.
This role is a full-time position based in our Richmond, BC office. Due to the nature of this job, this role will be on-site, and might require to work outside standard business hours.
