Overview

IT Network Administrator

DESCRIPTION:

The Network Administrator maintains and supports the infrastructure by monitoring the system’s health and implementing improvements. They also support end users by providing advanced troubleshooting and responding to tickets created by the Service Desk.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for installation, configuration, and support of network devices such as switches, routers, wireless access points, firewalls, network ports, paging and telecommunication system, and UPS systems.
  2. Take responsibility for network and cyber security while working closely with outside vendors to implement new solutions and resolve technical issues.
  3. Ensure network configuration backups are done regularly and efficiently.
  4. Manage network administration services for client, cloud, and on-premise server-based systems such as Microsoft Azure, VMware, Hyper-V, VoIP, domain server, print server, etc.
  5. Document all procedures and maintain a detailed history of network problems and inventories.
  6. Stay current on network security, including antivirus applications and spam and spoofing technologies, and make recommendations as needed.
  7. Responsible for the security and functionality of the wireless system, including creation and management of VLANs, secure guest access, and correct deployment of access points.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  1. University degree or college diploma in a related field and at least 2 years’ experience in Network or IT Systems Administration.
  2. Technical proficiency and knowledge of LAN/WAN technology and associated software and hardware such as firewalls, routers, and switches.
  3. A proactive team player who is flexible and self-motivated.
  4. Exceptional ability to collaborate, problem-solve, and provide technical administration assistance.
  5. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  6. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  7. Ability to work independently and manage various tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment under occasional tight deadlines.

WORKING REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Due to the nature of this role, the job requires regular on-site attendance at our Toronto Home Office.
  2. On-call duties to support in emergency situations.
