Closures Technical Centre, a division of Magna International Inc., is focused on the design, development, and testing of Mechatronics products for the automotive industry. We are currently looking for a student in the Information Technology field for an 8-12 month co-op.

Your Responsibilities

  • Installation of new and existing computers: desktops and laptops with Windows OS, Microsoft Office software packages; Lotus Notes
  • Effectively use disk imaging software to create computer images and deploy them onto new computers
  • Help with the computer inventory and reorganize the IT Storage Room; assist with the physical disposal of old decommissioned hardware
  • Maintain and upgrade all computer operating systems to the appropriate levels
  • Install, maintain, and upgrade all Windows applications software to the appropriate level, as per internal customer requirements
  • Perform user support (help-desk) related activities: user accounts, password expiry, basic Active Directory functions: file permissions
  • Troubleshoot and solve network printer-related issues
  • Assist IT Team members with network cabling patch panels, and ShoreTel desk phones
  • Learn and participate in troubleshooting computer network connectivity and connections to Magna WAN and the Internet

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform first level of user support for E-mail MS Outlook and Lotus Notes
  • Test computer hardware and software for functionality and assist with fixing minor hardware issues: i.e. memory, disk, etc.
  • Observe and support IT security procedures in order to maintain and secure company proprietary data
  • Maintain existing documentation for the IT environment
  • Maintain safety and housekeeping at all times
  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times
  • Complete tasks and assignments as deemed necessary by management
  • Perform other duties as required

Who we are looking for

  • Knowledge of computer disk imaging software
  • Good knowledge of MS Outlook 2013 E-mail client
  • Good knowledge of Dell computer hardware
  • Good knowledge of computer networking and familiarity with IP addressing and TCP
  • Familiarity with installation and configuration of MS software products
  • Windows Server OS knowledge is a plus
  • Knowledge of Dell server equipment is an asset
  • Knowledge of Blackberry and other Smartphone operating systems and interoperability is an asset
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Good communication skills: verbal and written

Your preferred qualifications

  • Working towards completion of a college diploma/university degree in information technology
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 7 Pro Operating System
