The Information Technology Division of the Edmonton Police Service requires one (1) Business Analyst who is self-motivated and organized with exceptional functional knowledge of the M365 platform, communication and interpersonal skills. These skills will be used to deploy solutions and grow adoption and usage of the Microsoft M365 platform at EPS to enable business value and modernization of business processes. Responsibilities will include:

  • Working with end users, supervisors and leaders at EPS to understand and document business objectives and requirements and recommend and deploy solutions making use of M365 tools. This includes SharePoint sites, Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online and could in the future include Co-Pilot, Power BI, Power Apps and other Microsoft tools.
  • Share best practices and lessons learned with the M365 Center of Excellence and keep up to date on understanding changing technologies, practice, and knowledge.
  • Develop and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, to support achievement of desired business outcomes.
  • Leading minor non-technical process deployment initiatives.
  • Supporting planning activities in the delivery and deployment of M365 related projects – examples of project objectives could include deploying Exchange Online and migrating mailboxes to the cloud; migrating the corporate intranet to SharePoint from another platform; assisting an operational team in adopting Teams into their operational activities; creating a SharePoint site and forms for Innovation ideas; migrating corporate communications and videos to SharePoint and MS Streams from other platforms.
  • Completing project tasks such as gathering and documenting requirements; planning and supporting testing; creating and publishing project communications; developing and supporting project training; tracking issues; providing user support; and more.
  • Accepting tier 2 support requests via ITSM tickets or Service Requests.
  • Working with end users and other support teams to identify issues related to functionality and user experience and work directly with end users to assist with resolution.
  • Assist other support teams by contributing functional expertise with M365.
  • Work with technical resources to identify issues and solutions related to M365 configuration.
  • Provide recommendations to leadership on policy, governance, process or any other domain that better enables users to accomplish their business objectives using M365.
  • Performing related duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in a related discipline and four (4) years of relevant experience in an Information Technology environment including demonstrated ability to lead small to mid-size initiatives. Formal certification in the area of expertise is desirable.
  • OR Post secondary diploma in a related discipline and five (5) years relevant experience in an Information Technology environment including demonstrated ability to lead small to mid-size initiatives. Formal certification in the area of expertise is desirable.
  • OR Certificate in a related discipline and seven (7) years relevant experience in an Information Technology environment including demonstrated ability to lead small to mid-size initiatives. Formal certification in the area of expertise is desirable.
  • Proficiency with various Microsoft applications in the 365 ecosystem and awareness of major and minor workloads on that platform.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with a strong focus on customer service.
  • Ability to excel in a team environment while working independently.
  • Experience working in a policing organization, particularly in the area of enterprise level project planning is a significant asset.
  • Experience developing technology training content or training end users is an asset.
  • Professional Designation in Business Analysis (CCBA, CBAP, PMI-PBA) from the IIBA or PMI is an asset.

Hours of Work:
33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of variable hours of work program. The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the COE/Civic Service Union 52 Collective Agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.

Salary Range:
21M, Salary Grade: 032, $51.17 - $65.30 (Hourly), $3,454.00 - $4,407.80 (Bi-Weekly), $90,150.51 - $115,044.04 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
