The Secwépemc Museum and Heritage Park (SMHP) is built upon the principles and traditions of the Secwépemc Nation, which is comprised of 17 Bands spread throughout the interior of British Columbia. The SMHP’s mandate flows from this collective membership, and the Secwépemc Nation’s ownership and right to steward their cultural heritage resources. The Museum displays its collection on the bottom floor of the Annex Building which is owned and maintained by the Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc (TteS). The public is invited to explore rotating and permanent exhibits Monday through Friday during open hours.
The purpose of this position is to assist the Museum Interpreter and potentially the Museum Cultural Educator in providing guided tours and workshops to guests and conduct research on the museum’s current exhibits. The position would also fill in for the Museum Administrator and other duties as assigned by SMHP staff. The incumbent reports to the Museum Registrar/Staff Supervisor to ensure appropriate activities and efficient operations of the Museum. The Museum Tour Guide is expected to operate with the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.
In collaboration with the Museum Registrar/Staff Supervisor, they will plan and develop long and short-term goals and objectives for their summer work.
Full-Time employment; 35-hours per week (flexible work week). Additionally, Assistants must attend all training sessions.
The supervisor will provide training for the Museum Tour Guide.
HOURS OF WORK: 7-hour day shifts.
PAY GRADE: $22 per hour
