RATE OF PAY AS PER THE COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT, $31.63 PER HOUR.

Knowledge And Experience
Completion of grade 12 and completion of an irrigation system program which specializes in the service and installation of irrigation systems and equipment
Possesses a valid irrigation level 2 certificate (IIABC)
At least 4 years of experience dealing with irrigation components and systems
Demonstratable knowledge of soil moisture requirement for sports fields, shrub beds and other landscape areas
Able to read digital site plans, interpret blueprint drawings and specification related to irrigation and drainage with the understanding of irrigation system design and routine and emergent repairs on all components related to irrigation
Strong understanding of various brands of irrigation equipment pertaining to underground irrigation systems including both electric and hydraulic controlled systems
Demonstratable knowledge with computer programs including word-processor, excel, outlook email, internal work order distribution systems and specialized computerized water management systems
Ability to operate various grounds equipment including front end loaders, forklift, skid steer and trenching equipment
Holder of a valid class 5 driver’s license and the ability to operate manual transmission
Able to work outdoors under all adverse weather conditions

Responsibilities
Assumes primary responsibility for the repair, maintenance, renovation and new installation of irrigation systems and components owned by the district
Reviews computerized water management system on a regular basis to identify and respond to system alarms, schedule watering windows and update system information as needed. Actively works to improve water consumption by ensuring district irrigation systems are performing efficiently
Provides input to department leads, energy management teams and outside entities to identify water usage concerns and participates in developing action items and performing tasks related to district water consumption reduction targets
Networks with district staff and outside consultants as required. Instructs and shares knowledge with other grounds maintenance staff on proper repair and installation methods
Performs semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to all aspects of grounds work as assigned
Supports with estimates of irrigation repair costs and project scopes in terms of labour and materials and shares recommendations for supply and equipment purchases relates to irrigation.
Primarily responsible for upkeeping an irrigation component inventory of supplies in both fleet vehicle and grounds shop to perform irrigation responsibilities efficiently and effectively
Drives and operates all vehicles and machinery used by grounds maintenance in the performance of related tasks including large and small tractors, forklifts and various loading equipment as well as minor and heavy-duty power tools, including but not limited to, chainsaw, augers, trencher, jackhammer, plate compactors and chippers
Ensures that the district complies with applicable by-laws, codes and regulations
