Investment Data Analyst

Our client is a rapidly expanding multi-family office offering multi-asset class investment products to professional investors. They are currently looking for an experienced Investment Data Scientist to join their investment team. This is a newly created headcount due to expansion.

Responsibilities

1. Work with investment analysts to identify internal or external data sources/datasets relevant to meeting specific objectives.
2. Work closely with data engineers to structure web scraping projects and produce highly calibrated signals that are relevant for investment.
3. Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify patterns, trends, and discover insights that support investment theses.
4. Implement appropriate solutions (e.g., dashboards, statistical models) to address the objectives.
5. Maintain an inventory of the data estate to ensure data-related requirements are captured and delivered.

Qualifications

1. 4+ years of experience as a data analyst, with prior experience in major e-commerce, telecommunications, and social media technology companies. The candidate will be highly comfortable performing analytics on massive databases.
2. Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Physics, or Engineering.
3. Candidates with significant experience utilizing web-scraped data are highly preferred.
4. 4+ years of experience using Python and Jupyter Notebook, SQL and NoSQL databases, and Tableau.
5. Knowledge of research frameworks (R, SciKit, PySpark) is required.
6. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
7. Advanced knowledge in probability and statistics is required.
8. Prior experience in data-driven quantitative research.

Preferred Requirements

1. Strong background in financial markets and associated datasets, i.e., market data, reference data.
2. Have a working understanding of data engineering practices.
3. Experience working with datasets in Chinese is preferred.
