Description

The Role
When you read the words "Inventory Controller," you probably imagined a person absentmindedly stocking fifty-or-so shelves with factory-fresh merchandise. This isn't that kind of job. If that's what you're after, save us all some time and close this tab.
If managing inventory was a sport, working at dbrand would be the Olympics. Our warehouse contains over forty thousand individual SKUs. You know their locations like the back of your hand. As our in-house production lines churn out merchandise, you rise to the challenge of putting it in the right place. Other companies would crumble beneath the weight of our bins, but you succeed where others have failed. In this hypothetical Olympic sport, there are no gold medals - every last member of the team is a winner. Your reward? Aside from the satisfaction of blowing every benchmark out of the water, you get to revel in the gratitude and recognition from our millions-strong cult of customers. When our fans receive their packages and can't contain their excitement as they tweet, post on Instagram, or submit to Reddit, that experience only happens because our bins were stocked with the right product in the right place... and you were the one who put it there.
Does the above paragraph describe you? Of course not. You don't work here... yet. We can change that. Right now, you're just a prospective hire who ideally possesses prior Inventory experience, has strong attention to detail, and knack for problem-solving. If that's not you, here’s a second opportunity to close this tab. If you're still with us... maybe the previous paragraph describes you after all.

The Environment
At dbrand, expect a clean, modern, well-lit warehouse with desks, chairs, and rows of inventory bins. The warehouse floor? You could eat off it. Should you? Who can say? We're not scientists. Instead, we're a team who works hard and plays hard. There's nothing we're more committed to than ongoing growth... other than unparalleled product quality and customer experience.
What's in it for you? Well, unlike most companies, we actually care about the work we're doing. Our customers deserve no less than the absolute best. At dbrand, you have the opportunity to create once-in-a-lifetime purchase experiences for them. If you're someone who's creative, committed, and excited about our mission, you'll do more than thrive here.
Before you can get the opportunity to join our passionate, dynamic team and create unparalleled customer experiences as part of our Inventory team, you'll need to prove yourself. Let’s see if you’ve got what it takes…

The Characteristics

  • Agile: You’re nimble. You’re adaptable. You thrive in an environment where priorities can change in an instant.
  • Analytical: Your decisions are driven by only one thing: data. You continue to master all the tools necessary to surface insights.
  • Collaborative: You enjoy purposeful meetings. You value the contributions and perspectives of your CEO as much as you do your subordinates.
  • Curious: You’re eager to learn new concepts and master new skills. There’s no tool that’s useless in your arsenal.
  • Demanding: You expect the performance of your team to be nothing short of flawless.
  • Disciplined: You never allow the details to slip, understanding that every bit of minutiae forms the bigger picture.
  • Enthusiastic: You exhibit a contagious passion for problem solving, quality, accuracy, and camaraderie.
  • Innovative: You develop new approaches to complex problems.
  • Perfectionist: You persist until the smallest detail has been optimized. Knows nothing less than 100%.
  • Persistent: You’ve never failed. You’ve only experienced speed bumps on your path to success.
  • Reliable: You live up to both verbal and written agreements. You can be trusted to work effectively, without oversight.

The Responsibilities and Qualifications

In order to make a positive impact as part of our team, your focus in this role will be to:
  • Manage inventory levels, including accurate tracking of materials and products, to ensure the integrity and accuracy of inventory data in our WMS.
  • Surface insights from inventory data to help drive departmental process improvements.
  • Update and maintain controls related to inventory stock levels, stock replenishment / relocation, and inventory adjustments in WMS.
  • Lead cycle counts of inventory, and resolve and reconcile discrepancies between physical counts and system records. Conduct physical inventory audits to ensure that inventory levels are accurate.
  • Resolve priority issues and escalations, supporting Inventory team members and other departments to determine and execute resolution.
  • Prepare reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and discrepancies for management.
  • Assist the Inventory Team Lead with maintaining departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Track and oversee raw materials, product and supply shipments, incoming deliveries, and stock.
  • Assist in inspecting products for quality and manage any necessary repackaging as needed.
  • Optimize warehouse space utilization and layout for efficiency.
  • Coordinate materials and products between off-site storage and warehouse floor, and determine timelines for ordering stock replenishments.
  • Maintain system knowledge and troubleshoot any issues related to the WMS.
  • Train, manage, and lead temporary staff during peak periods. Ensure deliverables and ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Participate in cross-training activities to develop proficiency in various warehouse tasks and provide support and assistance to team members as needed.
  • Safe operation of reach truck using personal protective equipment.
If you find a box you can’t check, stop reading and look for a company who demands less from their Inventory team:
  • A background in Inventory Management or other relevant experience.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Windows OS operation, ERP / WMS / IMS, spreadsheet / data analysis, web applications, and task management.
  • Experience using handheld devices.
  • Strong understanding of materials requirement planning and inventory management practices.
  • Considerable working memory and the ability to successfully multitask.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to safely operate a reach truck (training provided if required)
  • An impeccable communication style - your grasp on the English language is flawless.
  • Detail-oriented, self-sufficient, resourceful, organized, and proactive.
  • The instinct to help teammates thrive and the openness to learn from past experiences.
  • The ability to solve complex problems (or know where to find the answer).
  • Commitment to long-term growth and learning opportunities.
  • Insights and engagement with the current state of smartphone and mobile technology.
