WHO WE NEED
We are seeking an Interpretive Planner who will bring creativity, structure, and a passion for engaging museum audiences. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who can design and implement interpretive plans for exhibits and multimedia projects. You will collaborate closely with curators, designers, and multimedia producers to develop exhibits that captivate and educate diverse audiences.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
- Develop and lead interpretive plans that effectively communicate exhibit messages and engage target audiences.
- Write and edit exhibit text, storyboard outlines, and scripts for multimedia presentations, ensuring clarity, accessibility, and engagement.
- Ensure the interpretive plan is consistently realized through close teamwork with curators, designers, and multimedia producers.
- Research and apply interpretive techniques to meet visitor needs, ensuring exhibits are culturally sensitive, respectful, and accessible.
- Play a key role in creating exhibits and multimedia that educate and inspire museum visitors.
- Opportunities to refine your skills in interpretive planning, writing, multimedia production, and audience engagement.

- Contribute to exhibits that celebrate cultural sensitivity, accessibility, and respect for diverse audiences.
WHAT YOU BRING- A university degree in a related field, with additional coursework in exhibit development, creative writing, or multimedia.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in interpretive planning, writing, or related roles.
- Strong writing and editing abilities for popular media and audiences.
- Proven problem-solving and content analysis skills.
- Understanding of multimedia, graphic, and three-dimensional design techniques.
- Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Access).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in French is an asset.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN OUR INTERVIEW PROCESS- Initial conversation: A 30-minute virtual conversation with a Recruiter to discuss your interest in the role and ROM and how you can make an impact.
- First interview: A 1-hour in-person or virtual interview with the Hiring Manager and a member of the HR team. This interview will focus on your skills and how they align with the team's and ROM's needs.
- Second interview: A 1-hour in-person meeting with the Hiring Manager and relevant team members. You may be asked to present a pre-assigned case study and discuss scenarios relevant to your role. Depending on the position, you might also be given a tour of ROM and receive a preview of your responsibilities and interactions.
**All virtual conversations & interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams & may be recorded.**
