A day in the life of a Capital One Marketing Research Intern.

As part of the Customer Strategic Insights team, you will work on getting to know our customers, and bringing your learnings to life. You will be responsible for designing, conducting, and sharing research - taking it from an idea to execution - in order to influence product marketing decisions.

You will work with research tools like surveys and interviews to gather data, use spreadsheets to analyze and organize it, and slides to present it. Working on the Customer Lifecycle team, you’ll have an opportunity to learn from other specializations like data analysts, process managers, and business analysts.

Here are a few ways that our Insights team has helped the business deeply understand our customers:

  1. Product Development: The Marketing Research team conducted a study to get feedback from Canadians on a product we were working on. The findings from research were direct inputs into the advertising of this product.
  2. Customer Experience: The Marketing Research Team conducted interviews with customers, to get their feedback on one of our processes. We took their feedback back to the process team and quickly implemented their findings to improve the customer experience.
  3. Market Scan: The Marketing Research Team conducted a study to hear from Canadians about their life and financial circumstances. We shared the results of this study across the business, refreshing teams on customer perspectives and preferences.

Marketing Research Intern

Capital One is seeking a Marketing Research Intern to join our Customer Strategic Insights team. In this role you will have the opportunity to unearth consumer insights that inform product and marketing strategies for the company. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in marketing research, coupled with experience in collecting, analyzing, and/or reporting on customer data.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and launch marketing research projects on customer research platforms, working with internal and external research teams.
  • Manage participant recruitment and processes & monitor data flow into surveys and/or interviews.
  • Use analytical tools to identify trends and key findings from surveys to share back to the business.
  • Gain a deep understanding of the Canadian FI Landscape, reporting on market trends and identifying strategic opportunities for the Marketing & Product team(s).
  • Learn from other members of Insights team by collaborating on other research projects, using a variety of methodologies and approaches.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelors/Masters degree in Marketing, Marketing Analytics, Marketing Research, Marketing Strategy, Data Science, Statistics, Data Management or related field, graduating in 2025-2026.
  • Interest in Market Research/Insights with a strong focus on strategic thinking and problem solving.
  • Experience with collecting, analyzing, and/or reporting on data trends or performance.
  • Experience with building presentations and/or sharing work through written and verbal reporting.
  • Proficient in Google Suite - Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Past professional experience (co-op, internship, or other) with Marketing Research/Marketing Insights - data analysis, visualization, and presentation.
  • Past professional experience (co-op, internship, or other) in Marketing, Brand, Sales, Business Analysis, or Consulting.
  • Experience working with analytical tools such as Python, R, SAS, SPSS, SQL or similar relational database tools.
  • Graduating in 2025-2026 with availability to transition to a full-time role following internship.
