About Us

McArthur River

McArthur River, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s largest high-grade uranium mine. The uranium produced at McArthur River is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to energize a clean-air world.

The Role

Reporting to the chief mine geologist, you will be responsible for the management of tasks and duties within the McArthur River geology department. You will work collaboratively within the department and engage site stakeholders on improvement opportunities and initiatives.

In this role, you will:

  1. Provide oversight for diamond drill core logging and sampling, underground development mapping, computerized data management, and data quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC).
  2. Assist with drillhole planning and drafting, downhole deviation surveys, and radiometric surveys.

Required:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in geology or geological engineering
  2. Minimum of two years of relevant geological/mine geology experience (core logging, underground geological mapping)
  3. Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent computer skills, and the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  4. Ability and willingness to perform manual labour, including heavy lifting, as required for this position
  5. Valid class 5 driver’s licence
  6. Safety-oriented work attitude
  7. Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft

Recommended:

  1. Experience working in a mine geology and an underground work environment
  2. Working knowledge of geological database and mining software: AcQuire, Vulcan, and Leapfrog
  3. Eligible for membership with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
