About the job:
The Sarnia office is seeking an Intermediate Civil/Structural Engineer to join their CSA (Civil/Structural/Architectural) team. The Intermediate Civil/Structural Engineer will be responsible for civil and structural engineering on multi-discipline engineering projects in a computer-based integrated 3D engineering/design environment.
Skills and Responsibilities:- Execute Engineering/Design related deliverables.
- Structural analysis and design of various structures and foundations.
- Basic civil design of local roads, site grading, drainage systems, etc.
- 3D modeling as needed.
- Review of design prepared by others.
- Review of drawings developed by the CSA design team.
- Specifications and contract documents.
- Resolve design and field engineering difficulties.
- Review project documents for technical accuracy.
- Provide technical guidance to the CSA team members.
- Identifying investigations, value engineering and special analysis needs on a project.
- Take part in 3D model reviews, constructability review and risk analysis.
- Determine and schedule work priorities meeting the project schedule.
- Keeping abreast of new technical developments and estimating their impacts.
- Establish good working relationships and communication with the client and other engineering disciplines.
- Assist in providing Home-Office technical support to engineering groups and construction management team at site.
In addition to the responsibilities listed, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:- Minimum of 7 years of experience in an EPC environment including a minimum of 3 years for Petrochemical and Refining facilities.
Communication:- A good knowledge of the interdisciplinary requirements for Petrochemical and Refining projects.
- A good knowledge of workshare with multiple offices and High-Value Engineering Centers.
- Good knowledge of Canadian standards.
- Good knowledge of 3D structural analysis and design.
- Knowledge of Plant 3D, or other 3D modeling/CAD software.
Behavior/Core Competencies:- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with others in a team environment.
- Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills.
- Experience with complex structures for process units like cracking, oil distillation, and sulfur recovery is considered an extra asset.
