Intermediate Architect or Architectural Technologist

Sixteen Degree Studio is an established architectural practice with a focus on residential projects. We work closely with our clients to create clean, timeless buildings with a hint of playfulness.


We are currently looking for an intermediate Architect or Technologist to join our close-knit team. The position will provide the opportunity to work on a variety of projects at various stages of design and construction. The ideal candidate is well organized, motivated, thorough and has a sharp eye for good design. The ideal candidate also possesses the skills and experience to confidently run a custom small single family residential project from schematic design though to the conclusion of contract administration.

Duties will include:

• Managing smaller projects through the design and construction phases, overseeing all project documentation and ensuring it is cohesive, complete and coordinated
• Collaboration on small teams for larger residential projects
• Preparation of design and construction drawings and details
• Communicating and meeting with clients, consultants and suppliers
• Coordinating the work of consultants
• Navigating projects through the approvals process
• Specifying interior and exterior finishes
• Developing and drawing interior details and millwork
• Contract administration

Qualifications include:

• Architecture or Architectural Technologist graduate with a minimum of five years post graduate, professional experience with a focus on residential projects
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• High level of skill in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp
• Solid understanding of the OBC (Part 9) and the City of Toronto Zoning By-law
• Experience of designing and overseeing residential renovations in Toronto

Salary starts at $70,000, commensurate with experience + health spending plan

Our office is located in midtown Toronto, close to TTC routes, trails and bike paths, and parking is available.
