Makow Associates Architect Inc. is an award-winning architecture and interior design practice based in Toronto. The company is involved in a variety of interesting projects, from resort hotels and condos to high-end unique custom homes. The practice’s portfolio includes diverse styles of residential projects, as well as commercial, high-rise residential, and mixed-use developments. We are looking for talented architects to work on very exciting design-oriented projects. We are a boutique firm of 14 professionals with opportunities for advancement. The office is centrally located, and we enjoy a beautiful light-filled studio environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

1. Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate work experience in an architectural office;
2. Graduate of Architecture program;
3. Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, and other 3D modeling software;
4. Demonstrated talent in design;
5. Ability to work well either on a team or independently;
6. Experience and expertise in construction documentation, residential, and commercial projects;
7. Experience in design and detailing of single-family homes and wood frame construction;
8. Excellent written and oral communication skills;
9. Competency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Photoshop.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Design development of concepts prepared by others;
2. Schematic design of elements of a project as requested;
3. Creative design sense for exterior and interior design - Use of SketchUp, Revit, and/or hand sketches to explore the 3D qualities of design;
4. Prepare working drawings for construction (Revit or AutoCAD) independently with some input from a supervisor a few times a week;
5. Communicate with consultants/suppliers to coordinate the design;
6. Communicate with clients as requested;
7. Check shop drawings and liaise with contractors;
8. Prepare necessary paperwork for change orders, site instructions, etc.;
9. Site visits as required;
10. Other related duties will be assigned as required.
