Location: Innisfail, Alberta
Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
The successful candidate will report to the Controller. This candidate will work closely with Finance and various internal stakeholders to ensure timely job closing and analysis, as well as general accounting duties such as period closing, general ledger account analysis and other supporting functions. This candidate will also support Field and Forge, a related company, in a similar capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
Both Companies
- Month End Reconciliations and Reporting.
- Perform Balance Sheet reconciliations and prepare Lead Sheets for most accounts.
- Analyze jobs based on estimate to actual, hours and dollars. Track jobs in progress and work with stakeholders. Month end job closing procedures including revenue and COGS reconciliations.
- Work closely with the Controller and stakeholders on several strategic improvement projects.
- Manage finalized AFEs, assign AFE numbers, determine coding, issue to Purchasing etc. (by email).
- Assist with year-end external audit preparation and various internal audits.
- Backup to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll.
- Aid in the development and implementation of process improvements to standardized accounting procedures and improving accounting efficiencies.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of Policy & Procedure Manuals.
Field and Forge Specific
- Register new products with AGLC.
- Prepare and file GST for both companies.
- Preparation and filing of excise tax returns for beer, spirits, wine and warehouse licenses.
- Provide AGLC or CRA with requested documentation regarding renewals or audits.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Completed a post-secondary Degree in relevant discipline, Accounting/Finance. A combination of academic achievement and related work experience may be considered.
- Manufacturing and/or AGLC experience would be considered an asset but not required.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online would be considered an asset but not required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Strong knowledge of accounting guidelines and standards.
- Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated skills in developing open and caring relationships with staff, management, customers, governing bodies, and the public.
