The GO Expansion scope includes new electric locomotives, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications, and digital systems.
Purpose:
- The Interlocking (IXL) is a system composed of Mechanical, Electromechanical, Electric, Electronic, and Software components aimed at ensuring safe movements of trains.
- The purpose of the job is to participate in the execution of IXL application design activities of a Signaling project, adopting the Alstom application design process and ensuring delivery according to the project's schedule and quality commitments.
- The IXL Application Design Engineer shares with the Project IXL design leader the progress of the activities performed, the issues encountered, and potential improvements that can be applied on methods and tools.
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure application and consistency to the reference application design methods & tools, requesting deviations in cooperation with the Project IXL design leader whenever appropriate.
- Participate actively in IXL detailed design review meetings and provide activity progress reports.
- Organize and produce documentation and software design deliveries according to project templates and needs.
- Support the Project IXL design leader and Project V&V manager in debugging and testing design issues.
- Analyze and manage design change requests and participate in defining the IXL application package to be delivered to the V&V, installation, and Testing & Commissioning teams.
- Ensure independence of the design activity from the verification activity.
Educational Requirements:
- Engineering Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, Automation Engineering, or similar.
- First experience in relevant positions (systems/sub-system application design) in a highly complex and normative environment (railway signaling, CBTC, aerospace, defense).
- Understanding of Signaling HW Design and SW data generation processes.
- Knowledge of signaling principles and their translation into application logic.
- Engineering and system background.
- Experience in relevant positions (systems/sub-system application design) in a highly complex and normative environment (railway signaling, CBTC, aerospace, defense).
- Railway transport training certification.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and programming languages.
- Open-mindedness and a multi-disciplinary approach.
- Problem setting and problem-solving skills.
- Writing skills required: clarity, rigor, and concision.
