What we are seeking
Zeidler is seeking to hire an Interior Designer with strong healthcare experience and a proven track record of success. You will be proficient in managing personal project-level work with greater complexity and less supervision. Having the ability to share design/technical ideas, communicate ideas clearly, develop models, and present unique design/technical solutions is essential. With increasing seniority, an Interior Designer will become greater at managing small project teams and supporting more junior staff through teaching and giving effective feedback. To be successful in this role, you will be able to communicate well with clients and other professionals, work effectively in a team setting and readily adapt as changes need to be made. Duties include:
- Working with senior staff to develop design concepts and translate them into design documents during project phases.
- Working with senior staff to develop space/furnishing plans, design details and finish selections to support conceptual design.
- Collaborating on client presentations and presenting design concepts and drawings.
- Providing instruction on specific design objectives, complex features and solutions.
- Attending site meetings, performing shop drawing review and providing contract administrative support as required.
- Working primarily with the Interiors team and having the ability to work with an integrated internal Architectural/Interior team as required.
- Possessing working knowledge of building code and preparing preliminary building code analysis.
- Managing and coordinating consultants.
- Being supportive and invaluable to team members by taking personal responsibility and looking to mentor and help more junior team members.
- Actively embodying the culture of the firm by applying its values, actions and behavior in daily practice.
- Demonstrating effective communication by going through appropriate channels, asking for clarification and feedback, and following-up.
- Representing the firm in the industry and advancing the company’s interest and profile.
- Contributing to the culture by embodying the values of the organization.
- Being active members in the professional association.
- Demonstrating excellent communication skills, being team-oriented, accountable, and highly motivated.
- As a member of our team, you are expected to actively adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures established by the company. This includes understanding and following all relevant guidelines, participating in mandatory training sessions, and consistently practicing safe work habits. You are responsible for identifying and reporting potential hazards, contributing to a safe working environment, and ensuring compliance with regulations. What You Will Bring
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience as an Interior Designer, ideally with experience in a variety of building types including commercial, multi-family residential, institutional, and retail.
- Bachelor of Interior Design from a recognized post-secondary institution is required.
- Membership as an Intern Interior Designer with a relevant registered association.
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
- InDesign, 3D rendering and SketchUp skills are an asset.
- Working knowledge of local Building Code and associated bylaws.
- LEED AP, WELL AP or knowledge of LEED and WELL Standards is considered an asset.
- Strong conceptual and design skills.
- Strong working knowledge of Interior Design process, programming, planning, materials, creative detailing, specifications, and building systems.
- Experience in coordinating project teams would be considered an asset.
- This position may require the ability to travel as needed. Travel may include visiting client sites, attending meetings, participating in training sessions, and representing the company at industry events.
