About YOU

Interior Designer (Hospitality):

We are seeking a creative and collaborative individual to join us in the role of Interior Designer to help us with the design of casino, hotel and restaurant spaces. Our clients' spaces range from unique and immersive environments to those with consistent and repeatable branded interior environments. Projects include both renovations and new builds. The successful candidate will work as part of a focused team, foster client relationships and be responsible for interior design implementation at all project stages, including conceptual, design development, construction documentation, and contract administration.

Required Skills (Hospitality):

  • Knowledge of hospitality interior design, including casinos, hotels and food and beverage spaces
  • Experience developing design narrative for experiential, immersive and curated environments
  • Lead creative development of interior design projects
  • Prepare and lead visual space visualization, including imagery, drawings and renderings supporting the project's design narrative
  • Lead interior space visualization, finish selection to suit the concept
  • Demonstrated experience developing custom architectural features
  • Knowledge of hotel and restaurant furnishings, manufacturers for furniture systems, fixtures, with ability to source and research
  • Knowledge of casino equipment, systems and fixtures
  • Knowledge of food and beverage equipment, coordination, and procurement
  • Expertise in renovation of occupied hospitality spaces would be considered an asset.

Interior Designer (Community Spaces):

We are seeking an empathetic and collaborative individual to join us in the role of Interior Designer to help us enrich and enhance important community spaces. Projects include both renovations and new build. The successful candidate will work as part of a focused team, foster client relationships and be responsible for interior design implementation at all project stages, including conceptual, design development, and construction documentation, and contract administration.

Required Skills (Community Spaces):

  • Experience with trauma informed design community spaces, including housing, community hubs, clinical support spaces, ceremonial spaces and learning environments
  • Understand issues affecting the well-being of vulnerable populations and design spaces which provide a sense of safety, respect and dignity.
  • Lead, direct or assist with stakeholder engagement strategies such as “Empathy Mapping” and “Visual Listening”
  • Work with clients and stakeholder groups to understand their unique needs, and develop these into program, room data sheet and space planning documents.
  • Prepare and lead space visualization, including imagery, drawings and renderings supporting the project's design concept
  • Select finish materials and furnishings while understanding the implications of their use, including infection control and harm prevention, with ability to source and research.
  • Employ universal design strategies, including accessibility & inclusivity
  • Develop daycare space planning and programming with an understanding of provincial standards

Who are we looking for?

  • Interior Design degree at a CIDA accredited institution.
  • Registration, or immediate eligibility to register with PIDIM; NCIDQ qualification is an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience providing interior design services, preferably in the hospitality sector, or minimum 3-5 years’ experience providing interior design services, preferably in the public and non-profit sectors.
  • Experience with 21st century Learning Environments or a willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrates excellent design and communication skills; capable of presenting to clients.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong competence in technical interior design programming and contract document development, including development of drawings, specifications, and application of industry standards.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated application of building codes
  • Experience with construction administration preferred.
  • Experience coordinating with consultants is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Revit and working in a BIM environment, including ability to produce 3d renderings.
