Instructor Therapist/Educator

Title: Full-time Educator/Educational Therapist (BCBA Supervision)

Emerging Minds is a treatment centre for children and youth, including children on the autism spectrum. Through interdisciplinary teams, we draw from contemporary, best-practice strategies to design individualized programs that incorporate the goals of the child and the family. Our treatment model rests on positive engagement with children.

We are seeking qualified individuals for the position of Educator/Educational Therapist. BCBA supervision can be offered for individuals pursuing various professional certifications (i.e., RBT, BCBA and Behaviour Analyst Candidates). Educators work with young children (18 months - 4 years) who have been diagnosed with Autism and implement behavioural programming in a group setting.

Work Performed:

• Providing therapy to children with autism, according to programs designed by the treatment team
• Supporting colleagues and contributing to a team-work atmosphere, ensuring that treatment runs as smoothly as possible
• Participating in weekly team meetings to discuss/review client needs
• Gathering and preparing teaching materials
• Teaching children one-on-one and in group settings
• Completing communication logs with children’s parents and guardians regularly
• Maintaining organization in client binders and therapy rooms

Education/Work Experience:

• Education in a related field (Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), autism and behavioural sciences, child and youth services, early-childhood education, communicative disorders, psychology, education)
• Experience implementing behavioural therapy in an ABA setting
• Experience with young children 18 months - 3 years of age (not necessarily with autism)
• Valid police records check and First Aid/CPR certificate

• Excellent play skills at the preschool level
• Physically able to crouch, kneel, and sit on the floor for extended periods of time
• Good problem-solving and multi-tasking abilities
• Demonstrate flexibility on a daily basis
• Comfortable with performance evaluation and receptive to feedback
• Able to work independently with adequate time management
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and administrative skills

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $23.00 per hour
