Position Summary

Cambrian College’s Corporate Training Department has an immediate requirement for an Instructional Designer on a temporary part-time basis for 9 months.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Manager of the Centre of Smart Mining and Corporate Training staff to design and develop technology-based instructional materials and courses for the Corporate Training Department that support a flexible, customizable, and personalized learning and support experience for learners.
  • As part of a larger project or when addressing a specific staff need, participate in the development of AODA-compliant courses, support materials, and learning objects in online formats compatible with the existing LMS and various mobile technologies.
  • Participate in the day-to-day running of Corporate Training instructional design projects, including acting as the intake coordinator for instructional design related requests for service.
  • Participate in course branding; produce documentation for various projects; and participate in workflow and decision-making.
  • Remain apprised of emergent trends within the fields of instructional design, online learning, mobile learning, and adult learning theory.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a three-year postsecondary diploma/degree or equivalent. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application)
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with learning management systems, and web-based authoring tools related to education and training.
  • Experience applying the requirements of Ontario AODA legislation to the creation of educational materials.
  • Experience creating course outlines, assessment strategies and teaching college-level students.
  • Excellent communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated diplomacy and tact.
  • Must be a self-starter with strong organizational and time-management skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Commitment to working within a team environment.

Required Information

Assets/Preferred:


  • Master’s degree specializing in Instructional Design or Educational Technologies.
  • Graduate Certificate (post baccalaureate) or diploma in Instructional Design.
