Position Overview:

The Instructional Designer contributes to the achievement of Semex’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives by designing and implementing engaging learning solutions that support employee development and business performance. Reporting to the Talent Development Manager, the Instructional Designer will collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to create engaging training programs, ensuring alignment with business needs and learning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design, develop and facilitate engaging, effective training programs and course materials, aligned with organizational goals.
  2. Develop content for various formats (e-learning, instructor-led training, videos, job aids, assessments) using instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles.
  3. Oversee the upload, maintenance, tracking, and reporting of training materials on the Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring content is accessible and up to date.
  4. Monitor and respond to LMS support requests, ensuring timely issue resolution.
  5. Conduct evaluations of training programs, gather feedback, and make improvements to enhance learning outcomes and effectiveness.
  6. Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure accuracy and relevance of training content.
  7. Stay updated on the latest instructional design trends, tools, and technologies and integrate them into the design process.
  8. Document design processes and provide regular reports to stakeholders on project progress, milestones, and outcomes.
Qualifications:

  1. A passion for learning and development.
  2. Proficiency in tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, and Camtasia for creating e-learning modules and multimedia content.
  3. Familiarity with LMS platforms for content delivery, tracking, and reporting.
  4. Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva) and video editing software to enhance learning materials.
  5. Proficiency with authoring tools like Captivate or Rise for building interactive learning experiences.
  6. Ability to use tools like Excel, Power BI, or other analytics tools to assess learner progress and program effectiveness.
  7. Demonstrated ability to facilitate engaging and effective training sessions.
  8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships.
  9. Bilingual (English and French) strongly preferred.
  10. Hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
  11. Valid G-class license required.
Education and Experience:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Adult Education, Human Resource Development, or a related field is required.
  2. CTP or CTDP designation preferred.
  3. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in instructional design, e-learning development, or corporate training is preferred for this role.
