Position Overview

Calian is seeking an Instructional Designer to help support the design, development and delivery of Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Technology and Engineering. This is a full-time opportunity where the resource will be required to work on site in Borden, ON.

Job Type: Full Time

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and quality control of instructional materials for all training requirements.
  • Analyze, design, and evaluate RCAF (Royal Canadian Airforce) training programs.
  • Develop training materials.
  • Conduct and advise on validation activities.
  • Advise on training documentation.
  • Assist in the development of assessment plans and assessment instruments.
  • Assist instructors in developing instructional skills.
  • Assist in the implementation of mentoring programs.
  • Design and conduct instructional techniques workshops.
  • Conduct needs analysis.
  • Monitor and evaluate training.
  • Propose, monitor, and evaluate performance improvement interventions.
  • Instruct as required.
  • Advise on learning technologies.
  • Promote relevant training and education system innovation.
  • Supervise instructional developers and personnel in instructional development.

Qualifications:

Civilian-Trained Personnel:

  • Undergraduate or post-graduate degree in or specializing in Education or Distance Learning, or a post-secondary degree and completion of a Teacher Education Program recognized by the applicable provincial standards organization (e.g., Ontario College of Teachers).
  • Two years minimum full-time instruction in adult education-related employment.
  • Two years experience in design, development, and implementation of instructional programs, or five years of instructional design in adult education-related employment.

Canadian Forces Trained Personnel:

  • Qualified Training Development Officer (CF National Qualification code AGDA).
  • Three years minimum experience in a CF training establishment.

General Qualifications:

  • An Instructional Design Officer must have knowledge of Canadian Forces Individual Training and Education Systems and Individual Training and Education (IT&E) Management Framework or equivalent training system development framework, demonstrated through work experience in applying the training system development framework in a structured training environment.
  • Design and Distributed Learning, demonstrated through work experience in a training development environment and development or coordination of the development of distance learning courses.
  • Ability to advise on curriculum and training development, demonstrated through work experience in a training development environment.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to work on site.
  • You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Secret Level.

  • A security clearance and/or vulnerable sector screening might be required for this position.
