To succeed in this position, you will need a thorough understanding of the laws, codes, and principles governing rock mechanics for tunneling, open-pit excavation, and rock wall stabilization projects, and you will need to have worked on similar projects, particularly in feasibility studies, detailed engineering, and construction monitoring.
Your role within the team
• Conduct geotechnical studies and design plans and specifications based on guidelines for a wide variety of projects;
• Prepare design reports and stability analyses for a variety of projects;
• Supervise and validate studies, calculations, designs, and deliverables;
• Design plans and specifications for tunnel excavation, open-pit, and rock wall stabilization work;
• Conduct site visits and supervise excavation, consolidation, and rock stabilization work;
• Coordinate junior and intermediate geological and rock mechanics engineers;
• Assist the team leader in preparing proposals and participate in internal and external coordination meetings.

The ideal candidate:
• Bachelor's degree in geological, civil, or mining engineering (with courses in rock mechanics), and a Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec or eligible to become one;
• Minimum 10 years of experience in rock mechanics (excluding experience gained through university studies: internships, research, etc.);
• Be familiar with industry standards, codes, and regulations, as well as with analysis and design software (RocScience, Itasca, GeoStudio, Plaxis);
• Valid driver's license, and willingness to travel throughout Quebec, sometimes to remote areas;
• Fluency in French (working language), both spoken and written. English is an asset*.

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $87 500 - $ 145 900 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
