Job Objective: Ensure full compliance with occupational health and safety regulations (OSHA), supervising workers and contractors on-site, and enforcing the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in a high-risk, industrial shipyard environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Enforce the correct use of PPE (hard hats, gloves, safety vests, goggles, steel-toe boots, etc.)
Perform daily inspections of work areas to identify unsafe conditions
Implement and enforce OSHA 29 CFR 1910 (General Industry) and 1926 (Construction) standards
Report safety violations and coordinate corrective actions with supervisors
Conduct toolbox talks and safety training for employees
Lead emergency response drills and protocols (fire, chemical spills, evacuation)
Maintain records of accidents, trainings, incident reports, and internal audits
Work closely with contractors and team leaders to ensure safety culture is maintained
Required Qualifications:
OSHA 30-Hour Certification (General Industry or Construction)
Solid understanding of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926 regulations
Minimum 2 years of industrial safety experience in shipyards, construction, or manufacturing
Knowledge of hazard control in mechanical, electrical, chemical, and structural operations
Ability to read SDS sheets, ANSI standards, and NFPA labels
Clear verbal and written communication skills
Basic to intermediate English (oral and written)
Preferred Qualifications:
CPR / First Aid Certification
Experience with ISPS Code / MARSEC procedures (for port facilities)
