Howe Sound Pulp & Paper is seeking to fill 2 Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) positions. These jobs are permanent full-time, located in Port Mellon BC.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) is responsible for installing, inspecting, adjusting, and repairing equipment while following safety rules and regulations. As a member of the maintenance department, you will maintain all equipment to required standards and be responsive to production needs and equipment failures. You will work as part of a team but could routinely perform work independently while maintaining an elevated level of accuracy and safety.

General Responsibilities

• Installation and maintenance of machinery and rotating equipment
• Adjustment and alignment of machinery and rotating equipment
• Ability to read technical instructions and blueprints
• Participate in and learn precision maintenance skills
• Inspecting and examining machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions
• Adjusting machinery and repairing or replacing defective parts
• Fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings and belts to precise tolerances
• Perform predictive and operational procedures
• Keeping detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation
• Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

• Red Seal Certification
• A willingness to learn and work hard
• Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills allowing one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
• Able to respond effectively to changing work situations and priorities
• Working knowledge of safety standards of equipment

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly rate of $48.66 as per the Howe Sound Labour Agreement. Overtime is compensated per the Howe Sound Labour Agreement. Comprehensive benefits package including extended health/dental coverage and pension.
